Project Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at Prairie Band LLC. This is a unique opportunity to work on project-based activities and contribute to the financial success of our federal contracting subsidiaries.
Responsibilities:- Project Administration:
- Collaborate with Executive Leadership, Management, and Project Managers to prepare project reports and provide analysis.
- Process payroll according to project costing.
- Track project status to ensure execution and compliance.
- Collect and store final statements and lien waivers in company folders.
- Manage contractual risks through document synchronization (SF1413 acknowledgments, certificates of insurance, lien waivers, certified payroll, and analytical).
- Assist in financial aspects of project close-out.
- Review WIP (Work in Progress) reporting monthly.
- Accounts Payable:
- Collect and review subcontractor payment applications for accuracy.
- Communicate with subcontractors to reconcile pay application status with original contracts, change orders, and pending change orders.
- Assist the Financial Controller/PM in owner billing by gathering necessary backups.
- Review subcontractor and supplier preliminary lien waivers for accuracy.
- Track certified payroll reporting to ensure supplier liabilities are met at time of subcontractor payment.
- Disburse funds to subcontractors while ensuring compliance.
- Collect and review general invoices and match with vendor purchase orders/subcontracts.
- Prepare final statements at project end and send them to subcontractors and suppliers for review.
- Analyze project accounting metrics and each project's financial position monthly, escalating any issues as needed.
- Manage vendor set-ups by activating new and deactivating old vendors.
- Manage project status by activating new and deactivating old projects.
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
- Accounts Receivable:
- Review progress billing/invoices prepared by Project Managers for accuracy before approving for release.
- Match payments to invoice numbers.
- Prepare AR aging reports at least monthly and coordinate with Project Managers to collect past-due balances on time.
- Send required releases to customers.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
- Experience in construction accounting is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment across multiple companies within Prairie Band LLC.
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines.
- Capacity to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all subcontractors, suppliers, and vendor representatives.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with all employees, contractors, and customers.
$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
Physical Demands:- Physically mobile with reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to read computer screens, email, and talk on the phone.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
