As a Recovery Support Advocate, you will play a crucial role in fostering hope and demonstrating that recovery is attainable. You will assist individuals in developing coping strategies, managing their symptoms, and enhancing their community living skills.

This is a full-time position eligible for benefits, working Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sharing personal recovery experiences and supporting the use of recovery tools while modeling effective recovery behaviors.
  • Empowering individuals to recognize their resilience and potential.
  • Facilitating connections between individuals and their peers, as well as the broader community.
  • Supporting individuals with mental health and substance use challenges in building a network for information and support.
  • Encouraging individuals to make informed choices and actively participate in their treatment plans.
  • Assisting individuals in identifying their strengths and resources to aid in their recovery journey, while helping them set and achieve personal recovery goals.
  • Contributing as a member of the treatment team by providing input on client Wellness Plans and treatment decisions.
  • Before achieving full certification, Recovery Support Advocates will engage in training, attend team meetings, shadow experienced staff, and, under supervision, meet with clients, though they will not bill for services until certification is complete.
  • Providing transportation assistance to clients as clinically necessary; driving is a fundamental aspect of this role.

    WORKING CONDITIONS & EXPOSURE RISK:

    Operating vehicles or machinery.

    A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must self-identify as a current or former recipient of behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring disorder services.
  • Completion of a state-approved training program, passing a standardized examination, and completing the certification process within 60 days of hire, while maintaining ongoing certification as a Certified Recovery Support Advocate through the appropriate state body.
  • A valid driver's license and meeting the agency's minimum automobile insurance requirements are essential.
