Job Title: Maintenance Electrician Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team at Carleton College. As a key member of our maintenance staff, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical and fire alarm systems on our campus. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our electrical distribution and transmission equipment. Key Responsibilities: * Maintain all electrical systems on campus, including 13.8kv switchgear and main distribution systems, emergency generation systems, commercial building switchgear and distribution systems, and residential style buildings. * Primary responsibility for Fire Alarm panels and systems in campus buildings, including residential buildings. * Assist with low voltage card access and security systems as needed. * Coordinate work load using a work order management system. Requirements: * Journeyman or Master Minnesota electrical license. * Minimum 10 years documented relevant electrical experience with residential installation and repair, commercial electrical system maintenance and repair, including motor controls, low voltage wiring and systems, and medium voltage distribution systems. * Proven ability to read and understand electrical prints. * Ability to read and create one-line drawings for electrical systems and switching. * Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems. * Computer experience in email, word processor, and spreadsheet documents. * Ability to work independently, self-starter with ability to maintain detailed records. * Positive, cooperative service-oriented attitude. * Valid Minnesota driver's license with a good record. * Neat and safe work habits. * Must pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications: * Electrical degree from a secondary school. * Experience with power generation. * Good understanding of other trades and ability to work with them. * Experience working with a multi-building campus setting. Physical Requirements: * Must pass pre-employment physical. * Requires the physical ability to occasionally lift and carry 60 lbs. tools and equipment. * Ability to climb step ladders, extension ladders, ship ladders, fixed ladders, and 120 steps carrying 25 lbs. * Will work on rooftops and be required to work at elevations with a mechanical lift or ladder. * Ability to stand and walk up to 3 hrs. at a time. * Must be able to grasp small tools and parts for installation. * Occasionally crawl through a 22 opening and crawl up to 25'. * Occasionally use force up to 80 lbs.
