The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to surgical patients. This role requires a blend of critical thinking, clinical judgment, and leadership skills to ensure optimal patient outcomes during surgical procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for enhancing performance within unit operations and contribute to the formulation of actionable plans.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively: · Execute nursing interventions in a systematic manner. · Anticipate the needs of the surgical team. · Utilize both professional and support staff efficiently. · Employ critical thinking and sound judgment. · React promptly to potential or actual emergencies.
  • Examine patient records for relevant information: · Confirm the accuracy of consent forms. · Validate health history and consultations. · Analyze and report any abnormal findings.
  • Uphold patient rights: · Ensure privacy by maintaining confidentiality. · Recognize and respect spiritual and ethical beliefs.
  • Provide emotional support to surgical patients: · Create a calming environment prior to anesthesia induction. · Clarify the sequence of surgical events. · Inform patients of any delays and ensure family members are updated.
  • Ensure proper positioning of surgical patients: · Understand the physiological implications of positioning and individual patient needs. · Maintain patient dignity throughout the process. · Apply principles of body alignment and adapt as necessary during positioning. · Protect pressure points as required. · Monitor areas of contact pressure closely.

Qualifications:

Position Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Employment Type: Full-Time

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Open Heart (CVOR) RN in an Acute Care setting is required.
  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida or be eligible for licensure prior to commencement.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA Healthcare provider) are mandatory.
  • CNOR certification is preferred.

Compensation: Salary range is competitive based on experience.

On-Call Compensation: Additional pay for on-call duties.

Shift Differentials: Additional compensation for night shifts, weekends, and national certifications.

Sign-On Bonus: Available on a case-by-case basis.

Relocation Assistance: Offered on a case-by-case basis.
