Responsibilities:- Prepare the operating room suite for patient procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient environment.
- Evaluate and assess patients' surgical status, documenting all findings and interventions.
- Collaborate with anesthesia to maintain accurate intake and output records, check blood product availability, and ensure accurate blood administration.
- Utilize safety measures and demonstrate ability to handle difficult situations.
- Monitor and intervene as necessary with patients receiving conscious sedation.
- Apply safety positioning devices, provide ongoing observation, and document interventions according to hospital policy.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of operating room equipment, performing new procedures, skills, and routines in specialty areas.
- Perform initial vital signs and admission history, introducing patients and families to the care team and assessing chief complaints.
- Obtain and document accurate systems assessments at the beginning of each procedure.
- Respond to diagnostic data and initiate appropriate action or intervention.
- Assess patient education needs and psychosocial needs specific to patients' age, growth, and development.
- Initiate plan of care within eight hours of admission, establishing priorities for patient care based on patient needs.
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative care and instruction for assigned surgical patients.
- Collect and label specimens per policy when ordered by physicians.
- Perform bedside glucose monitoring, ostomy care, and insert intermittent or indwelling urinary catheters using aseptic technique.
- Administer oxygen therapy according to physician orders.
- Transfer patients in/out of the GI station efficiently, obtaining complete and correct sets of physician orders and completing documentation of transfer summaries.
- Current Florida RN License
- BLS required
- CNOR preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience scrubbing and circulating through various service lines, with CNOR certification highly beneficial.
