This position is for a Mechanical Engineer who will work on various projects as part of the NS&E execution center team. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving skills, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Participate in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes used, utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Assist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work products and support the development of project cost and schedule estimates.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
- Related experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer, and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
- Hands-on Microsoft Office programs and other computer programs.
- Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles.
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Engineering in Training certification in the US, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
