Special Education Teacher
Brevard Public Schools is seeking an experienced educator to teach and reinforce reading and math skills to our exceptional students. The ideal candidate will provide services to students according to their Individualized Education Program (IEP) and may also pull students for small group instruction. Regular assessments will be administered to determine student progress.
This position is for grades K - 1 and involves working with approximately 6 students and up to 2 instructional assistants in the classroom. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and FL DOE certification in ESE K-12 or Specific Learning Disabilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- FL DOE certification in ESE K-12 or Specific Learning Disabilities
AND
- FL DOE Elementary Ed. K-6 certification
Please note salary is based on verifiable years of teaching experience as per District guidelines.
Compensation: Brevard Public Schools offers a pay supplement based on years of experience. Our voters passed a millage last year, and all teachers, from zero to 19+ years of experience, will receive a supplement. The pay ranges based on years of experience, but for a teacher with 19+ years teaching, that's approximately an additional $7,849 (pay and supplement are prorated based on start date) in your pocket. This raises the overall compensation higher than our neighboring counties.
Benefits: We also offer advanced degree supplements, if the advanced degree is related to one's job responsibilities. Qualified Varying Exceptionalities ESE teachers must create a BPS BEACON application so that we can verify your eligibility to teach at www.brevardschools.org under the Careers tab.
Candidates are also encouraged to send a letter of intent and a resume to Courtney Taylor, school secretary at Manatee, but a BEACON application is required for serious consideration.
As the largest employer in Brevard County, we are proud to offer all full-time employees excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits at a reasonable cost.
