We are seeking a highly skilled Stationary Engineer - Wastewater Treatment to join our team at the City and County of San Francisco. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining complex machinery and equipment in a sewage disposal plant or pumping station.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain a wide variety of complex machinery and equipment in a sewage disposal plant or pumping station.
- Maintain and prepare routine plant operations records and reports.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Four (4) years of verifiable journey level Stationary Engineer, Plant Operator and/or Plant Mechanic experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air-conditioning, ventilating, and related plant machinery of wastewater treatment plant.
- Or completion of a recognized four-year stationary engineer Apprenticeship Program.
- Or graduation from a recognized four-year Maritime Academy with a degree in Engineering or technology.
- Or possession of at least a 3rd Assistant Marine Engineer's License of any unrestricted horsepower.
- Or possession of a FAA Airframe or Power Plant Certificate and four years verifiable experience in an Airframe or Powerplant mechanic or maintenance technician capacity that utilizes the certificate.
- And possession of a valid driver's license.
Possession of a Grade 1 or higher California Water Treatment Operator Certificate or a Grade 1 or higher California Water Distribution Operator Certificate is desirable for certain positions.
Selection ProceduresAfter application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following:
- Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (Weight: Qualifying).
- Multiple-Choice Examination (Weight: 100%).
A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only.
An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates.
