Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traffic Control Technician to join our team. As a Traffic Control Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing traffic control devices, as well as controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones
  • Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle
  • Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner
  • Effective radio communication with team members on work site
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices
  • Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents
  • Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility Manager
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protector

Requirements

  • Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours required
  • High School Diploma or GED completion required
  • Prior experience preferred in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems
  • Must be able to follow safe workplace practices
  • Valid Driver's License void of suspension or revocation

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to successfully handle the physical demands of this position, which include the following:

  • Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs
  • Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites including high noise level in the work environment
  • The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Position lifts or carries objects up to 50 pounds
  • Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects
  • Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
