Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing direct and indirect patient care, and performing technical, rehabilitative, and therapeutic nursing procedures under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Exposure and handling of hazardous waste in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
  • Proper specimen handling and disposal, adhering to universal precautions and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Implementation of the Universal Protocol and Time Out procedures in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Creation and maintenance of a sterile field, reporting any break in technique and ensuring proper follow-up.
  • Performance of other duties aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
  • Promotion of patient safety and quality, adhering to the National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with healthcare team members, escalating situations as necessary.
  • Establishment of effective caring relationships with staff, patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of an accredited OR Surgical Technician Training program.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
  • 1-3 years of OR experience preferred.
