Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant to join our team at St. Bernards Medical Center. As a key member of our environmental services team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting: Clean and disinfect all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, utility rooms, ancillary areas, public areas, restrooms, and offices.
  • Trash and Refuse Removal: Remove and dispose of trash and refuse in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Daily Floor Care Maintenance: Perform daily floor care maintenance, including dusting, wet mopping, buffing, striping, and refinishing hard floors, vacuuming, shampooing, and extracting carpet.
  • Wall Washing: Wash walls and surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Furniture, Blind, and Window Cleaning: Clean furniture, blinds, and windows to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Must have the ability to read, write, take verbal instruction, and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Experience: Previous experience is helpful, but not required. An inexperienced worker will need three to five days of instructions and at least 30 days on-the-job training under the direction of the Assistant Director to perform satisfactorily.
  • Physical Demands: This is a safety-sensitive position. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, carry up to 40 pounds, and push/pull up to 60 pounds. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a normal hospital environment with frequent exposure to dust and fumes. Must be able to operate floor machines, battery-operated equipment, and electrical equipment, including vacuum cleaners, buffers, scrubbers, and wet vacuums.
