Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Refugee English Language Training Coordinator to join our team at Heartland Human Care Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering English language training programs to refugees and asylum seekers, with a focus on job readiness and workforce development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver high-quality English language training programs to meet the needs of refugees and asylum seekers.
- Recruit and enroll participants in the program, ensuring compliance with eligibility guidelines.
- Deliver culturally competent instruction to program participants, with a focus on literacy skills and the unique needs of individuals with interrupted formal education.
- Develop and provide relevant life skills instruction to reduce barriers to employment, including public transportation, workplace tours, and digital literacy skills.
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers, program assistants, and guest speakers to support participants during class and in early employment.
- Track class attendance, participant engagement, and program outcomes, ensuring compliance with program goals, funding requirements, and contractual agreements.
- Communicate with program graduates at regular intervals throughout their early employment, as defined by project funding requirements.
- Consult regularly with colleagues, employer partners, refugee employment coalitions, and experts in various career pathways to learn about best practices and support ongoing program improvement.
- Collaborate with employment specialists and partnership developers to identify, cultivate, and establish external partnerships.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience working with refugee and resettlement populations required.
- Relevant lived experience in refugee resettlement or forced migration may be considered.
