Customer Interaction: This position requires frequent interaction with clients, necessitating a friendly, approachable demeanor. The Estimator should maintain a professional appearance and exhibit a positive attitude towards both customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting clients warmly and guiding them through the estimating process.
  • Engage with waiting customers, offering refreshments and assistance as needed.
  • Manage Direct Repair Programs (DRPs) and follow up on potential DRP partnerships.
  • Prepare detailed damage estimates in accordance with company standards to minimize supplements and enhance profitability.
  • Maintain a minimum closing ratio of 75% on estimates.
  • Discuss and clarify estimates with customers, providing them with copies and directing them to the Customer Service Representative for scheduling.
  • Secure repair authorizations and negotiate costs with insurance appraisers.
  • Oversee supplements and reinspections throughout the repair process, documenting with images.
  • Ensure accurate labor charges are added to repair orders upon authorization.
  • Coordinate with the parts manager regarding any supplemental parts that need to be ordered.
  • Communicate any changes in repair status to management and customer service representatives, documenting these communications.
  • Address special requests or repair procedures from customers or insurance companies, ensuring they are noted on estimates and work orders.
  • Identify opportunities for courtesy repairs to assist in converting non-committed prospects.
  • Adhere to insurance company guidelines and monitor repairs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Identify and upsell non-accident-related damages during the estimating process.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Follow all safety protocols and review billing documentation before vehicle delivery.
  • Archive completed repair orders and maintain accurate data entry.
  • Act as a point of contact for customers regarding future concerns or additional services.
  • Utilize sound judgment in matters affecting repair quality and job profitability.
  • Continuously seek out unaccounted items and potential revenue opportunities.
