Job Description:

The Lead Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the I-77 Express Lanes project. This position will assist the Maintenance Supervisor in performing daily roadway surveys, assisting with monthly safety meetings, and supervising maintenance employees. The successful candidate will have a strong background in roadway maintenance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in performing daily roadway surveys and inspections
  • Assist with monthly safety meetings and coaching employees on proper safety procedures and practices
  • Supervise maintenance employees, including work assignments, scheduling, performance management, and discipline
  • Operate assigned automotive equipment and construction equipment, including tractors, mowers, sweepers, bucket trucks, and Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMAs)
  • Inspect equipment for proper operating condition, make minor repairs or adjustments, lubricate, and assist in making repairs as required
  • Perform miscellaneous skilled maintenance on the I-77 Express Lanes project as required
  • Respond to traffic incidents, provide roadside assistance to motorists on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville, and be available on-call after hours for emergency incident response
  • Perform miscellaneous building maintenance as required
Requirements:
  • 4-7+ years of prior roadway maintenance experience or college equivalent
  • Experience in roadway repair, traffic management, and traffic control operations, and personnel management
  • Previous experience with construction vehicles
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics
  • Ability to interact with colleagues in a team structure
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • User level of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) and capable of learning and using other PC-based software
  • Must be able to multitask and problem-solve within a fast-paced environment
Working Environment:

I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The Lead Maintenance Technician will be required to work alternate schedules, including weekends and night shifts, and be assigned to a scheduled shift as needed. The employee will be working on the roadway, with moderate to high noise levels due to heavy machinery and traffic conditions. The employee must be able to individually lift and/or move up to 80 lbs and frequently stand, walk, climb, drive, and sit for long periods of time during day and night operation.
