We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Veterinary Assistant/Technician/Specialist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our veterinary team, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Instruct and assist fourth-year professional veterinary students in clinical settings.
- Maintain equipment and supplies inventory in clinical areas, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
- Develop and implement effective time-management, communication, and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively with the team.
- Employ critical thinking to expand knowledge and education of advanced small animal diseases, including diagnostic and treatment options.
- Provide high-quality veterinary technical assistance in various small animal services, including internal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, community practice, theriogenology, oncology, and exotic animal medicine.
- High school/GED and two years related experience, or Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited program with two years related experience, or Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related area, or DVM degree or equivalent.
- Experience in restraint of small and large animals, administering injections, and placement of IV catheters is essential.
- Knowledge of equipment used within the veterinary hospital, including personal computers, telephones, copy machines, lasers, video endoscopes, diagnostic lab equipment, cameras, and electrodiagnostic equipment.
- Physical ability to lift animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages.
- Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and five years experience as a Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA or credentials in a specialty that the veterinary hospital defines as meriting recognition.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification.
