Position Overview:

The technician will implement modifications and enhancements to existing systems to enhance safety, mitigate risks, comply with regulatory standards, and support the growth of the University as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of up to three individuals, including apprentice electricians and general mechanics, ensuring that all emergency and routine tasks are effectively scheduled and completed.
  • Assist in the management of the electrical division in the absence of the supervisor, contributing to budgeting and maintenance prioritization.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine maintenance, repairs, and installations of the University’s power and lighting systems, including main distribution and branch circuits.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all electro-mechanical systems, ensuring optimal functionality of transformers, switch gear, motors, and lighting systems.
  • Support the design and accountability for new system installations and repairs, ensuring compliance with updated building plans during renovations.
  • Engage in energy conservation efforts by minimizing utility waste and managing lighting re-lamping across campus.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to electrical systems, maintaining accurate records of service and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in emergency response protocols, providing 24-hour contact availability during on-call duties.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED and a valid Colorado Journeyman Electrical License are mandatory.
  • A Colorado Masters Electrical License and NICET certifications are preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in electrical construction or maintenance at the journeyman level.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with asbestos safety protocols are highly recommended.

Work Environment:

  • Work conditions may include exposure to various environmental factors, requiring adaptability to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be necessary during peak operational periods.
  • A valid Colorado Driver's License is essential, along with a satisfactory driving record.
