Key Responsibilities
The Healthcare Access Coordinator is responsible for:
- Conducting interviews and registering patients by accurately collecting necessary demographic and insurance information.
- Entering patient data into the electronic health record system promptly and accurately.
- Obtaining required signatures and legal consents for treatment and admissions.
- Communicating with insurance providers and primary care physicians to secure service approvals.
- Engaging with self-pay patients to arrange payment plans and addressing inquiries at the point of service.
- Maintaining accurate records of authorizations and precertifications for managed care patients.
- Updating patient information as needed and ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
- Managing the hospital switchboard, directing calls, and relaying messages efficiently.
- Assisting with departmental projects and training new staff as required.
- Upholding a positive demeanor while interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
Education:
+ High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience:
+ Previous experience in a medical setting is preferred.
+ Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
