We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Part-Time Instructor - Orthopedic Sports Medicine Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an academic and clinically busy orthopedic sports medicine practice with one of the premier sports medicine groups on the front range of Colorado.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain detailed histories and perform physical examinations on assigned patients, assessing and treating acute/chronic medical problems, focusing on the musculoskeletal system.
- Provide direct patient care to a specified patient population, writing prescriptions for medications, PT, OT, imaging studies, and DME as needed.
- Assist in providing pre-op and post-op care, writing appropriate orders, including those for narcotics and other scheduled drugs.
- Perform emergency lifesaving procedures, such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and massive hemorrhage or similar emergencies.
- Notify attending physicians on call, house physicians on call, or supervising physicians regarding unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
- Practice safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
- Coordinate patient care and support staff activities within the clinic, working with the team to ensure smooth operation.
- Write progress notes on patients' office and hospital charts, indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed.
- Provide health education to patients and families.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Assist in community outreach events, including giving educational talks, organizing, planning, and attending.
- May perform clinical research related to specific conditions and assist in preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- State of Colorado Certified Physician's Assistant or inclusion on the State of Colorado Advanced Practice Registry as an Advance Practice Nurse.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants.
- CPR or BLS Certified.
