Job Title: Site Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organizes, coordinates, and assigns daily tasks for the crew based on directives from a General Foreperson or Line Clearance Supervisor.
  • Conducts on-site training and re-training, guiding the crew on new or updated job procedures.
  • Implements safe work practices as dictated by experience, judgment, company policy, and OSHA regulations, while providing safety training in line with company standards.
  • Engages with property owners/customers regarding access, service interruptions, work scope, and liability for any property damage; escalates contentious issues to the General Foreperson.
  • Secures verbal or written consent from property owners to carry out necessary work.
  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with customers and the public through effective job completion and professional conduct of crew members.
  • May be entrusted with the authority to investigate incident reports, damage claims, and to resolve minor claims.
  • Keeps precise records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance.
  • Manages crew expenses, ensuring optimal use of personnel, work methods, and equipment operation.
  • Provides the General Foreperson and utility representatives with reports on completed orders, work units, crew hours, minor repairs, and distribution.
  • Regularly submits reports on incidents, equipment failures, property damage, and new employee follow-ups.
  • Collaborates with customers, law enforcement, and fire departments when obstructing streets or driveways.
  • Establishes barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect crew members and the public from hazards. In emergencies, determines necessary actions to mitigate risks to life and property.
  • Inspects and arranges for repairs to tools, vehicles, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness on vehicles and at job sites.
  • Responsible for ensuring DOT maintenance and inspection compliance for all required vehicles.
  • Stays updated on new equipment, specifications, standard practices, operational procedures, and customer relations policies, including EEO and AA policies. Requests repairs or replacements when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to interpret drawings and symbols related to lines, voltages, and line equipment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to field conditions and take independent actions without close supervision.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a company vehicle safely.
  • Capability to work with hands raised for extended periods.
  • Weight should not exceed approximately 300 pounds due to equipment limitations.
  • No fear of heights is required.
Education & Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Pre-Screening:
  • Successful candidates may be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and/or MVR check.
Licenses & Certifications:
  • Driver's License is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
  • RARE (less than 10%): crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, sense of touch, manual dexterity, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reaching, range-of-motion, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): walking, sitting, climbing on/off truck, reading, lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing distant, seeing, hearing-speech-range, depth-perception, color vision.
Safety Considerations:

Given the inherently hazardous nature of this industry and the requirement to work with or near dangerous equipment, employees must possess adequate vision to assess distances and coordinate equipment and tools. They must maintain focus and concentration for extended periods, endure various weather conditions while completing tasks, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, and have the stamina to navigate diverse terrains. Employees must be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour shift, communicate effectively, and manage conflicts professionally.
  • Work is conducted in proximity to energized power lines.
  • Exposure to high noise levels from machinery, chainsaws, wood chippers, and other equipment necessitates hearing protection.
  • Work occurs in all weather conditions, with exposure to natural elements such as irritating plants and insects.
  • Work at various heights and on uneven surfaces is required.
  • Employees must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at different heights, performing demanding tasks under challenging weather conditions while handling equipment or materials.
