Job Summary:

We're seeking a Physical Therapist to work in our acute hospital setting, providing full range of physical therapy services to patients. As a member of our team, you'll work independently and in consultation with referring physicians, with guidance from supervisory personnel, to organize treatments and ensure proper documentation in patient records.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direction of the Physical Therapy Department, including physical therapy assistants, physical therapy aides, and clerical staff.
  • Observes and evaluates treatment effect, recommending changes to physicians as needed.
  • Performs evaluations on all patients related to the therapy requested by treating physicians and performs re-evaluations as per policy.
  • Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, involving family members as appropriate.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychological, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly, maintaining department cleanliness and safety.
  • Interacts professionally with patients, families, and hospital staff, involving patients and families in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Communicates clearly and appropriately to physicians, hospital staff, and administrative teams.
  • Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  • Maintains records pertinent to personnel and department operations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely patient charges.
  • Assists with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members, participates in guidance and educational programs.
  • Ensures documentation meets current standards and policies.
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed for patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintains good working relationships within the department and with other departments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
  • Current or temporary licensure in the state of West Virginia, with permanent licensure obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of acute hospital experience.
