Responsibilities:
Become a vital member of our production team, with opportunities available for night shifts.


Prepare the extruder for production runs, adhering to standard operating conditions to minimize downtime and product loss.

Monitor and resolve issues during the extrusion process.


In the event of safety or quality concerns, halt operations and engage in collaborative problem-solving with the shift supervisor, maintenance team, safety personnel, and fellow operators.

Operate a fork truck safely.

Actively participate in maintaining a clean work environment.


Complete product changeovers, which involve cleaning the extruder barrel and screws, feeder, pelletizer, classifier, reclaimer system, automatic bagger, and feed and product totes to avoid contamination.

Maintain accurate records, including run logs, feed blends, product quantities in totes, packaging reports, and work orders.

Provide comprehensive reports to the incoming operator for effective shift transitions.

Review and understand the policies and procedures outlined in standard operating procedures, hazardous communication, and waste disposal protocols.


Take personal responsibility for adhering to all safety and health-related policies and procedures, participate in company-sponsored safety initiatives, and report any conditions or actions that may pose a hazard to oneself or others in the facility.


Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED is required; 5 years of manufacturing experience may be considered as meeting the educational requirement.

At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred, with extrusion experience being advantageous.

A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Previous fork-lift operation experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in operating various hand tools.

Must uphold acceptable housekeeping standards.

Strong communication skills are essential.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team, with daily activities varying based on production demands.

Willingness to work on holidays and weekends.

Physical requirements include:
Ability to lift 55-lb bags (from floor to chest), work in varying temperatures, climb stairs, and engage in frequent walking, standing, and reaching.

Frequent climbing on and off the fork truck is necessary.

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Prior manufacturing experience, particularly in plastics and extrusion processes, is preferred.

Experience operating a fork truck is advantageous.

Basic mechanical skills and a solid mathematical aptitude, including the ability to perform calculations involving percentages, ratios, unit conversions, averages, as well as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
