Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Material Handler III to join our team at APL Logistics. As a key member of our warehouse operations team, you will be responsible for providing safe, efficient, and accurate handling of customer products and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading
    • Load picked orders or pull and load according to established policies and procedures, completing all necessary paperwork, including Bill of Lading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit, and Lot Verification.
    • Unload, move, stack, and stage customer products and materials, both by hand and using forklift or other power equipment, while maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Pulling Orders
    • Accurately locate and load customer products onto/from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves, following established procedures and safety regulations.
    • Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials handled on daily production sheets.
    • Complete specialized order processing for loading, including stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling, and consolidating as required on the order.
  • Operating and Maintenance - Equipment and Grounds
    • Assign and verify trailers to the appropriate dock and/or yard location, ensuring trailers are locked to the dock-lock and/or chocked if applicable, following all safety rules and company policy.
    • Daily inspect and repair or make adjustments to tow-motor vehicles, following safety and maintenance instructions, and complete the tow-motor inspection sheet at the beginning of each shift or as assigned to another piece of equipment.
    • Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed to ensure product preservation.
    • Assist in building and grounds maintenance to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, neat, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Reports
    • Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by the supervisor.
    • Assist in physical inventories to ensure the facility and contents are secure.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Provide other services, such as sanitation requirement activities, assembling crates (boxes) to contain products, and/or moving loose materials to containers as directed by the supervisor and/or team leader.
Key Results
  • Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes, increase proficiency, and increase efficiency through waste elimination.
  • Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean, and orderly facility.
  • Position requires the incumbent's performance to meet and occasionally exceed standards set by the company for warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivity, and customer service.
Qualifications
  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of forklift/tow motor experience required, including fork lift certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
  • Light data entry skills required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to operate forklift - both sit-down and stand-up, tow motor, motorized and non-motorized pallet jack; clamp, reach, and slip sheet.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Ability to make decisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use.
  • Must have attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Language skills - English.
  • Must be a Team Player.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner.

  • 1-2 years of warehouse or related work experience preferred.
  • RF experienced preferred.
