Job Overview

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Research Nurse to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about advancing healthcare through research.

In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating clinical research projects, assessing patients' qualifications, and facilitating protocols. You will collect and review lab results, patient data, and lab specimens; administer medications and protocol-specific treatments. Additionally, you will perform general laboratory duties and specialized nursing duties, train new staff, and ensure regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate clinical research projects and drug trials
  • Assess patients for qualification/enrollment in research projects and subject groups
  • Implement research protocols
  • Monitor patient assessments
  • Collect and review lab results, monitor results for adverse reactions
  • Collect patient data, including medical histories and physical assessments
  • Maintain and enter data into databases/logs in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform general laboratory duties, including monitoring supply inventory, temperatures of freezers and refrigerators, cleaning equipment, and disposing of biological waste
  • Perform specialized nursing duties such as arterial puncture, venipuncture, and operation of electronic monitoring equipment
  • Administer treatment and/or medication in accordance with research protocol
  • Collect, prepare, and process lab specimens
  • Ensure all protocol and regulatory standards adherence

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in clinical research or a related field
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred (will train)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality

Compensation: The salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. The University of Pittsburgh offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
