Job Summary

Summary: Coordinate and monitor patient transportation services activities through timely and accurate dispatch and management of customer transportation requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service to customers by providing one-on-one attention to detail.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices, and proper body mechanics.
  • Determine, explain, and develop dispatcher logic and transporter activities. Transport patients when necessary.
  • Direct the activity of the transport function and transporters, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Monitor procedures related to availability and completion tasks, and follow up on issues related to service and operations.
  • Ensure requests have been addressed in an efficient, timely manner according to current departmental standards, priorities, and patient appointments.
  • Serve as a liaison between Patient Transportation and other departments.
  • Assign, collect, and distribute pagers. Monitor daily sign-in/out procedures.
  • Develop and promote positive customer service relationships with patients, patient family members, visitors, and staff. Ensure accurate, timely dispatch of transport requests. Ensure maximum staff productivity.
  • Resolve problems related to patient, visitor, staff, or employee complaints. Recommend solutions for ongoing or recurring issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
