We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Memorial Health University Medical Center. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other body fluids from patients of all ages, employees, and others as requested by authorized personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Promptly greet patients and offer assistance.
- Obtain blood and other body fluid specimens from inpatients/outpatients of all ages, employees, etc., as requested by authorized personnel.
- Operate computer systems, such as entering orders into the computer, charging, registration, and credits tests as needed.
- Communicate telephone or verbal messages effectively and accurately with other hospital staff and physicians.
- Assist in orientation/training of new employees as directed.
- Participate in continuing education, meet requirements for all mandatory inservices.
- Assist in overall operations of the Lab, such as checking Lab supplies, cost-effective practices, and safety regulations.
- Promote health and safety in the work environment.
- Ensure specimen integrity by adhering to appropriate lab protocols.
- Initial, date, and record time blood was collected on all laboratory forms and specimens.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to TMH's code of conduct and HIPAA standards.
- Knowledge of use of personal protective equipment.
- Participate in the collection of special procedures, such as drug screens, cultures.
- Present a neat appearance in proper attire with ID badge visible.
- Report to work on time and meet acceptable standards for attendance. Must be able to work assigned schedule, including holidays and weekends.
- Education: High school graduate required.
- Licensure/Certification/Registry: ASCP Phlebotomy certification or equivalent preferred, not required.
- Experience: Work experience and data processing knowledge preferred.
- Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills preferred, basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred, moderate physical effort.
