Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders in students within a school setting. They will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each student.
Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify communication disorders, including speech, language, and social communication difficulties.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, considering the student's age, abilities, and educational goals.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, utilizing evidence-based techniques and strategies to improve communication skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to intervention and support.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate and train teachers and support staff on effective communication strategies to enhance classroom instruction and student engagement.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing valuable insights and recommendations for students with communication disorders.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology, incorporating evidence-based practices into daily work.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Advocate for students with communication disorders, promoting awareness and understanding within the school community.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Valid state license or certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or pediatric setting.
- Strong knowledge of communication disorders, assessment tools, and evidence-based intervention techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple caseloads and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology and software applications relevant to speech-language pathology.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining ethical standards.
