Job Summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Technologist - Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, while maintaining a high level of customer service and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate clinical competency in the laboratory section, ensuring that all staff members are properly trained and certified.
  • Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, including testing and analysis of patient specimens.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and performance improvement initiatives, ensuring that the laboratory meets all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Assist and consult with the laboratory supervisor/director on various laboratory-related matters.
  • Maintain competency and meet goals and objectives, while adapting behavior to meet the specific needs of the patient population.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related field.
  • 48 months of experience as a medical technologist.
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology as a medical laboratory scientist or international medical laboratory scientist.
  • Louisiana license as a clinical laboratory scientist.
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a patient care area, with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases, as well as hazardous medications and waste.
