Postdoctoral Research Scholar

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join our team in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at North Carolina State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the area of plant pathology, with a focus on the genetics and evolution of powdery mildew species.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on the genetics and evolution of powdery mildew species, including the sequencing of full genomes and population genetics analysis.
- Develop and maintain mycological cultures, including isolating RNA/DNA from mycological tissues and performing techniques such as PCR and quantitative PCR.
- Conduct plant pathological assessments, including bioinformatics and data analysis.
- Collaborate with other researchers to design and execute experiments, and to analyze and interpret data.
- Prepare and submit scientific publications, and present research findings at conferences and seminars.
- PhD in a relevant field, such as plant pathology or microbiology.
- Experience working with hard-to-culture fungi, plants, and plant pathogens.
- Strong bioinformatics skills, including experience with large genomic datasets and population genetics analysis.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience publishing in the peer-reviewed literature.
- At least 3 years of experience in plant biology, plant pathology, and/or microbial research.
