Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular leadership and operational meetings, providing updates on the status and initiatives of the Transportation Engineering Team.
  • Organize and assemble project teams effectively.
  • Oversee and assess the utilization and efficiency of the Transportation Engineering Team staff.
  • Manage revenue and business development efforts for the Transportation Engineering Team, including setting revenue forecasts.
  • Monitor project performance metrics for Project Managers within the Transportation Engineering Team.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies in collaboration with other Team Leaders.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and create personal success strategies for team members.
  • Provide recommendations for staffing and participate in the hiring process.
  • Draft and review proposals and contracts for both single and multi-discipline projects.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, including various state departments and local municipalities involved in transportation projects.
  • Act as the primary client liaison, defining project scopes, preparing engineering agreements, and representing the firm at public and project meetings.
  • Enhance the firm's professional practice and reputation among clients and the public.
  • Mentor and guide technical staff on engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Represent the firm at interviews, conferences, and other professional gatherings.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content for the firm's website and social media channels related to Transportation Engineering services.
Project Management Duties
  • Serve as the project manager for transportation-related projects, maintaining client communications throughout.
  • Act as the Engineer of Record for projects.
  • Coordinate efforts with other engineering disciplines.
  • Identify and manage project priorities effectively.
  • Direct assignments and tasks for engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and practices in the engineering field.
  • Conduct peer reviews of engineering work.
  • Attend public and client meetings as necessary.
  • Oversee compliance with permitting and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct the preparation and review of plans and specifications for transportation engineering projects.
  • Manage construction administration, including contractor coordination and site observations.
Qualifications
  • 15 to 25 years of experience in transportation project design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation Engineering is preferred.
  • Current Professional Engineer licensure with the ability to obtain state licensure.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in proposal writing and business development is advantageous.
  • Technical expertise in transportation facility design, including roadway systems, bridges, and trails.
  • Familiarity with relevant design guidelines and standards.
  • Experience in construction administration and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in traffic engineering practices.
