Established in 1983, Aitech has a legacy of groundbreaking innovations, including the first conduction-cooled MIL-SPEC VMEbus board, and has consistently advanced its offerings to encompass cutting-edge SBCs, GPGPU-based AI solutions, and sophisticated cybersecurity measures for mission-critical applications.

We are in search of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will be responsible for the architecture, design, research, and development of highly sophisticated space applications, potentially leading to new product and business avenues for the organization.

The SME will serve as a technical authority across various sites on electrical engineering projects, overseeing the complete design cycle, advising on strategic technical directions for business growth, establishing industry best practices, and providing mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple high-complexity projects that require innovative and cutting-edge solutions.
  • Design significant systems with a comprehensive understanding of development programs throughout their entire lifecycle, from inception to decommissioning.
  • Occasionally act as a technical consultant across different sites.
  • Engage in long-term technical planning for multiple major initiatives.
  • Ensure that outcomes significantly impact the program's objectives and goals.
  • Lead or substantially influence a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Work independently while adhering to the guidance and expectations of site management.
  • Provide direction to various groups within the organization and influence strategic goals in functional areas.
  • Exhibit independent initiative and judgment in setting and achieving objectives.
  • Compose technical documentation with a high level of proficiency.
  • Oversee electrical engineering designs through the complete design cycle, including schematic capture, design trade-offs, interconnections, and PCB layout. Act as the primary design reviewer and promote process enhancements.
  • Facilitate peer reviews for technical development.

Technical Expertise

  • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert or technical authority within the professional community.
  • Exhibit exceptionally high levels of technical knowledge, creativity, and ingenuity within the industry.
  • Develop and implement advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories, and concepts, with a broad understanding of system design and operation beyond specialty areas.
  • Proficient in systematic RCCA processes and capable of generating RCCA reports for clients.
  • Formulate effective strategic technical paths (technology development roadmap) to seize new adjacent business opportunities.
  • Skilled in development tools for design capture, simulation, and debugging, particularly OrCAD Schematic Capture and Altium Designer.
  • Experienced with Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) and Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (EPSA).

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Effectively mentor individuals outside of their immediate work group and communicate with clients regarding budgets, schedules, technical challenges, and resolution strategies.
  • Deliver impactful presentations to critical/high-level clients and represent the work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams.
  • Resolve differing technical opinions within the team and among clients.
  • Address complex technical issues effectively.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Master's degree in Science, or PhD with 5-9 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 15 years of experience in Digital Design, particularly with military specifications or space programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry-standard bus architectures such as VME, cPCI, and PCIe is highly desirable.
