A pioneering start-up in the Autonomous Vehicle sector is seeking a skilled Lead Software Engineer to spearhead the development of cutting-edge robotics technology aimed at transforming transportation.

Mission: To deliver safe, efficient, and intelligent mobility solutions that will redefine the landscape of autonomous vehicles.

Role Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Robot Operating Systems (ROS) and will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of ROS-based software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide a team of software engineers in the creation, development, and upkeep of ROS-based software components for navigation, perception, and control systems.
  • Design and implement ROS middleware solutions to address the specific challenges faced by autonomous vehicles, including sensor integration and real-time data processing.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including robotics and hardware engineers, to ensure seamless integration of software with various vehicle components.
  • Establish and uphold best practices for software development, including code reviews and documentation, to maintain a high-quality codebase.
  • Enhance the performance and reliability of ROS-based systems through rigorous testing, debugging, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in ROS and robotics technology to propose innovative solutions and uphold technical excellence.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, particularly in ROS development and architecture.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams in the design and implementation of complex ROS-based systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java, along with strong software design and architecture capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of ROS middleware, including versions such as Kinetic and Melodic.
  • Solid understanding of robotics algorithms and frameworks (e.g., navigation, perception, control).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to mentor and motivate a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems development.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as Gazebo or V-REP.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Prior experience in the autonomous vehicle industry or related fields.
