Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Assistant General Counsel, the incumbent exercises independent judgment, with broad discretion and consistent with good customer service practices, performs duties related to the legal support of DWR executives, managers, and staff on DWR's regulatory dam safety program, implemented by DWR's Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD) as well as a wide variety of Department and Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) programs.

The incumbent advises the Director of the Department of Water Resources (DWR), other DWR executive management, and DWR program management and staff about complex and sensitive cases and/or matters involving opposing counsel with a high level of specialization.

The incumbent under the general direction of the Assistant General Counsel and/or a senior legal attorney, will have contact with members of the legislature, high-level governor appointees, constitutional officers, and the general public.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) Active membership in the California State Bar License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
