Job Summary
Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician Mechanic to join our team in East Syracuse, New York. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on heavy-duty vehicles.
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Perform standard vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
Perform standard component inspections and repairs
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
Replace defective components as instructed
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
Basic tools, required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
