Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Highway Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the State of Illinois. As a key member of our transportation maintenance team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, including CDL licensed vehicles, to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across the state.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CDL Class A or B licensed vehicles, including maintenance trucks, tractors, mowing machines, snowplows, and salt spreaders.
- Maintain and repair equipment, including compressors and jack hammers, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of roadways, including patching potholes and repairing guardrails.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operations and efficient use of resources.
Requirements:
- CDL Class A or B license
- Experience operating heavy equipment and vehicles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
