Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in acute, post-acute, and outpatient settings throughout CoxHealth facilities. The OT treats patients of all ages as ordered. OT staff assist patients in reaching their highest level of independence in the activities of daily living. OT staff make recommendations for the next level of care as well as adaptive equipment needed. OT staff plan and implement prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation services, including counseling and orientation for mobility, pain relief, increasing strength, and/or improving or correcting disabling conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients in various settings, including acute, post-acute, and outpatient environments.
  • Assist patients in achieving maximum independence in daily living activities.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and next level of care as needed.
  • Develop and implement prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation services.
  • Provide counseling and orientation for patients.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
    • PREFERRED: Masters or Doctorate from an accredited program of Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience
    • PREFERRED: 2 years of experience in Occupational Therapy.
  • Skills
    • Good clinical expertise, communication skills, human relations skills, and organizational skills required.
    • Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision required.
    • Demonstrated interest in professional growth by attendance at continuing education workshops and applications of new principles and/or techniques.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • License of Occupational Therapy active in the state of Missouri.
    • BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
