Coding Analyst

Conifer Revenue Cycle Solutions is seeking a skilled Coding Analyst to support and provide coding and compliance training to clinical personnel, billing, and/or other client staff. This role requires effective communication with clinical staff, and/or hospital staff to address documentation, coding, and reimbursement issues. The successful candidate will utilize knowledge of coding and compliance guidelines to identify potential billing / reimbursement issues. Additionally, the Coding Analyst will participate in special audits and system administration as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
The Coding Analyst will be responsible for:
- Performing diagnosis data submissions to clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Developing monthly productivity and revenue projections
- Monitoring chart assignment and accounts on hold
- Preparing data collection reports for leadership
- Monitoring diagnosis submission progress and auditing diagnosis submission files for accuracy
- Reviewing, analyzing, and overseeing prebill/post bill reviews and pending accounts
- Resolving workflow, systems, and complex matters related to coding
To be successful in this role, the Coding Analyst must possess:
- Proficiency in inpatient and/or outpatient diagnosis and procedure coding guidelines
- Proficiency in CPT/HCPCS code assignment, including Evaluation & Management facility coding guidelines
- Knowledge of MS-DRG, APR DRG, and CPT classification and reimbursement structures
- Ability to write AHIMA-compliant physician queries
- Adept at comparing documentation, code assignment, and charge in the financial system for accuracy and completeness
- Functional knowledge of facility EMR, encoder, CDI tool, and other support software
The ideal candidate will have:
- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience performing medical record coding in an acute care setting
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information, Nursing, or other related field, or formal coding classes completed and passed
The Coding Analyst must hold:
- AHIMA Credentials, and/or AAPC
This role will be performed in a private office space in the coder's home, per Conifer's Telecommuter Policy as defined in the Telecommuting Program Guide. The successful candidate must be able to travel nationally as needed, not to exceed 10%.
