  • Deliver professional and courteous service to all guests.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of:
    • Mountain policies and operational procedures.
    • Available facilities and services at the ski area.
  • Execute assigned duties in accordance with training.

Qualifications:

  • Desire to learn and develop skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of Pro Patrol training by an authorized instructor.
  • Possession of EMT, WEMT, WFR, OEC, or equivalent medical certification.
  • Advanced skiing proficiency across various conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of a criminal history disclosure and background check.
  • Fulfillment of the Department of Justice questionnaire with a cleared status.
  • Availability to work throughout the operational season on a flexible schedule.

Professional Patrol Requirements:

  • Current certification in OEC, WFR, WEMT, EMT, Paramedic, or equivalent.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Expert skiing skills in diverse conditions.
  • Completion of toboggan training and refreshers.
  • Training in avalanche rescue techniques and refreshers.
  • Lift evacuation training and refreshers.
  • Familiarity with on-mountain patrolling responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of mountain policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate avalanche beacons/transceivers.
  • Completion of SIS rescue training and refreshers.
  • Understanding of designated run names and landmarks.
  • Familiarity with the pro patrol handbook.
  • Knowledge of Whatcom County EMS BLS protocols.
  • Understanding of OEC first aid guidelines.
  • Training in rope rescue techniques.
  • Competence in avalanche beacon/transceiver operations.
  • Training and licensing in explosives handling.
  • Knowledge of avalanche control routes.
  • Compliance with avalanche control team member standards.
  • Training in lift evacuation special teams.
  • Training in incapacitated passenger lift evacuation.
  • Maintenance of ski equipment in optimal condition and passing ski and binding tests.
  • Training in bloodborne pathogens.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in harsh winter conditions for extended periods.
  • Physical tasks including bending, twisting, lifting, and moving items throughout the day.
  • Capability to lift and move weights of 75 pounds or more as required.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Capability to climb and descend stairs.
  • Ability to shovel and move snow.
  • Proficiency in standing and walking on compact snow and ice.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks as necessary.

Compensation:

The starting pay rate is $16.58 per hour, with potential increases based on experience, merit, and tenure.
