We are seeking a skilled Metallurgist to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. This exempt managerial position requires strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills.

Job Summary

The Metallurgist will be responsible for ensuring the quality management system is functioning properly throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related engineering field and at least ten years of experience in material science or metallurgical fields. Strong knowledge of tungsten cobalt powder formulation, pressing, and sintering is required. Experience with HIP sintering and wear tool design is a plus. The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

The Metallurgist will support the company's quality management system by applying ISO processes and principles and ASTM specifications. They will coordinate Quality department resources for assistance to plants/operations, assist Operations department with technical information, and interface with external suppliers and vendors on development of components or raw material needed for production. Additionally, they will create precise designs for components, provide technical advice on metal suitability, and assist with new product testing using destructive and non-destructive techniques. The Metallurgist will also perform Root Cause Corrective Action for process and part deviations or Quality check failures.
