Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a highly skilled Marine Diesel Generator Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of marine diesel generators used in various marine applications.
Key Responsibilities:- Install marine diesel generators in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and specifications
- Conduct generator commissioning activities, including system testing, parameter adjustment, and synchronization with existing electrical systems
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on marine diesel generators, including oil and filter changes, fuel system inspections, coolant checks, and battery maintenance
- Conduct scheduled inspections and tests to identify and address potential issues before they result in equipment failure
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including parts used, service performed, and test results
- Troubleshoot generator malfunctions and electrical system issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Identify faulty components and perform repairs or replacements as necessary, including fuel injectors, starter motors, alternators, control boards, and wiring
- Test generator functionality after repairs to ensure proper operation and adherence to safety standards
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of generator maintenance, repairs, and service history
- Generate reports on generator performance, issues, and recommended corrective actions
- Technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Previous experience working with marine diesel generators is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, diesel engines, and generator operation
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices and procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks in various working conditions
- Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to follow proper procedures to ensure a safe work environment
