Position Summary
The Software Applications Engineer will be integral in the design, development, and testing of both object-oriented and service-oriented software solutions. This role also involves the maintenance of existing software and hardware, addressing application enhancements, troubleshooting issues, and resolving any application-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy business software applications.
- Conduct audits on system processing to identify and rectify software and hardware errors, as well as performance concerns.
- Engage in various roles within scrum teams.
- Provide training, documentation, and ongoing support for IT Helpdesk personnel.
- Oversee the maintenance and support of current and legacy applications.
- Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 4 to 6 years of professional software development experience utilizing object-oriented programming languages, with a primary focus on C#. A minimum of 4 years of experience with the .NET framework is required. Experience in the insurance and financial services sectors is preferred.
Skills
- Proficient in developing n-tier .NET applications within a service-oriented architecture.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, including design patterns.
- Expertise in object-relational mapping systems such as NHibernate and Entity Framework.
- Solid grasp of relational database design, normalization models, and advanced SQL knowledge.
- Experience in designing service-oriented software components that utilize Windows Communication Foundation and various middleware services.
- Proficient in developing custom solutions within Microsoft SharePoint 2010.
- Skilled in data-driven document generation using MS Office.
- Experience working in agile team environments, particularly with scrum methodologies and Team Foundation Server.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Effective planning, organizational, and prioritization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
