Job Title: Facilities Operations Engineer

Join SpaceX as a Facilities Operations Engineer and play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining some of the world's most advanced manufacturing facilities.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Engineer to join our critical infrastructure team. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for providing tactical scheduling and strategic long-range planning expertise to our operations team.

You will schedule and plan all facilities repair and maintenance work across the organization, respond to tickets, communicate with clients, and provide status updates as needed. Additionally, you will assist the Facilities Manager in all aspects of project implementation, write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors, and provide campus-wide reporting on departmental spend, ticketing, and other metrics.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide tactical scheduling and strategic long-range planning expertise to our operations team.
  • Schedule and plan all facilities repair and maintenance work across the organization.
  • Respond to tickets, communicate with clients, and provide status updates as needed.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in all aspects of project implementation.
  • Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors.
  • Provide campus-wide reporting on departmental spend, ticketing, and other metrics.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience with the design or build of MEP building systems.
  • 2+ years of facility vendor and contract management experience.
  • 2+ years of professional experience writing queries with SQL.
  • Experience building dashboards with Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of HVAC operation and design principles, including refrigeration, chillers, boilers, and air handling equipment.
  • Experience with plumbing design and operation, including domestic water, waste water, venting, and storm systems.
  • Experience with critical power infrastructure, including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Ability to quickly assess an issue and assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment, under possible extended work hours and tight deadlines.
  • Acute attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problems.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs.
  • Ability to create and update RFPO's and facilities work orders in an ERP software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment, balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic directions.
Additional Requirements:
  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed (up to 25%).
Compensation and Benefits:

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation & will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.

Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.
