Obstetric Nurse Specialist

About the Job:
The Registered Nurse in the OB Department provides direct and indirect patient care. He/She applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. The Registered Nurse must possess good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients and families.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care while working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. He/She works with various types of patients, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, GYN surgery patients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of the patient.
• Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide care to the patients.
• Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan of care.
• Administering medications and treatments within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse.
• Recording patient care activities including assessment, reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patient's medical record.
• Using a variety of computer systems.
• Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient.
• Providing patient and family education related to treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care.
• Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in a manner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients, and promotes heath and healing.
Requirements:
• Minimum Education: Associates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Required Licenses: Tennessee Registered Nurse license or compact state license, obtain within 30 days from date of hire.
• Required Skills: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certifications, S.T.A.B.L.E., English language proficiency.
Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 per year.
