Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our General Surgery & Vascular Trauma Stepdown Unit. As a member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to acutely ill patients with abdominal and vascular surgeries, abdominal oncology, and trauma patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the physician.
  • Perform various medical procedures, including tracheostomy care, blood product administration, and wound care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.
  • Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required.
  • BLS (or higher) certification required.
  • Experienced Nurses: Professional specialty certification (preferred).

The General Surgery & Vascular Trauma Stepdown Unit at Duke University Hospital is a 32-bed unit that provides exceptional care to patients with abdominal and vascular surgeries, abdominal oncology, and trauma patients.
