Job Overview

As a Children's Bus Safety Attendant, your primary responsibility will be to support the driver in ensuring the secure management of students during transit. This role encompasses various tasks, including aiding students during boarding and disembarking, conducting safety inspections, leading emergency evacuations, and addressing behavioral concerns with parents and management.

Position Type: Part-Time

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

Compensation: Starting at $15.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all passengers throughout the bus journey.
  • Assist children in safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
  • Conduct thorough safety checks to maintain a secure environment.
  • Remain vigilant and knowledgeable about the designated routes to monitor passenger welfare.
  • Check for any sleeping children before departure.
  • Support the driver in safely maneuvering the vehicle, especially in reverse.
  • Lead emergency evacuation procedures, utilizing emergency exits as necessary.
  • Be capable of operating service doors and navigating steps multiple times daily.
  • Communicate any behavioral issues or concerns regarding bus stops to the driver.
  • Engage with parents as required to discuss student matters.
  • Assist in keeping the assigned vehicle clean and orderly.
  • Occasionally participate in field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children or in educational settings.
  • Completion of a comprehensive training program is required.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
