Orthopedic Care Specialist

Job Summary
Resurgens Orthopaedics seeks a highly skilled Orthopedic Care Specialist to join our team. As a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our orthopedic practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical exams, pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and record findings.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, establish a diagnosis, and determine a treatment plan.
- Consult with specialists and interventional physicians as needed.
- Assist in reduction of fractures and dislocations, provide minor office surgical care, and apply and remove casts, splints, and immobilizing devices.
- Administer injections, immunizations, oral medications, and other clinic procedures.
- Prepare written prescription orders and authorize prescription refills.
- Assist physicians in the application of specialized orthopedic devices and instruct patients on their use.
- Triage patient telephone calls, answer questions, and provide consultation and education to patients and their representatives.
- Provide monitoring and continuity of care, and perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
Hospital Responsibilities
- Obtain complete pre-operative medical history and physical data regarding surgery patients.
- Acquire proper surgical equipment and hardware needed to perform scheduled surgical procedures.
- Assist in surgery, including first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, and application of appliances.
- Conduct hospital rounds, evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, and formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients.
- Dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals, and maintain a log of all surgical procedures.
- Take first call for the physician, including deciding to admit, arranging surgical intervention, and scheduling emergency surgery.
- Make emergency room evaluations and inpatient consultations.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide supporting documentation and coding information for all health care services provided.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Protect patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA Privacy Regulations.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and active licenses and certifications.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated conflict management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Operating room experience preferred.
