Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Demonstrating extensive expertise in IBM z/OS assembly language, which encompasses a deep understanding of assembly instructions, addressing modes, data manipulation techniques, and job control processing.
Additionally, the role involves assisting with the extraction of business rules from legacy code and converting it to modern formats.
  • Possessing familiarity with IBM mainframe architecture, including knowledge of storage hierarchy (registers, memory, I/O), system calls (SVCs), and interrupt handling mechanisms.
  • Utilizing CA Endevor Software Change Manager (SCM) for version control, release management, security, access control, and integration with other development tools.
  • Applying knowledge of BMC Control-M for automating job scheduling, managing workflows, and monitoring job execution.
  • Utilizing mainframe tools such as debuggers, assemblers, linkers, and utilities specific to the IBM z/OS environment.
  • Having in-depth knowledge of legacy mainframe data formats, including experience with DB2, QSAM, and VSAM.
  • Understanding target Java code, including object-oriented programming principles, Java syntax, libraries, frameworks, and best practices, with the ability to translate assembly logic into modern constructs like loops, conditional statements, functions, and object-oriented design patterns.
  • Holding an active IRS MBI Clearance.
  • Experience with IRS Core Record Layout (CRL) and QSAM Data Formats is highly desirable.
  • Experience with IRS Individual Master File (IMF) or Business Master File (BMF) is also highly desirable.

Qualifications:

Experience Level:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree is required.
Skills:
Proficiency in SQL is essential.
