Position Summary:
NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego are seeking a dedicated Photographer to join our dynamic news team. This role is pivotal in capturing and presenting engaging news stories to our audience. You will be tasked with shooting and editing a variety of news segments, including breaking news and feature stories, as well as setting up live broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture news events with precision and creativity.
  • Adhere to ethical journalism standards.
  • Gather factual information and develop compelling narratives during assignments, with or without a reporter.
  • Meet daily deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Edit video content for both broadcast and online platforms.
  • Oversee the daily operation of all ENG equipment, including cameras, editing tools, audio, lighting, and microwave technology.
  • Monitor and comprehend government and public service radio frequencies.
  • Operate vehicles and live trucks as required.
  • Perform additional duties to ensure comprehensive news coverage.
  • Engage with social media to enhance news dissemination.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in news photography.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Submission of a resume/CV is necessary for consideration.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Availability to work any shift within a 24/7 schedule.
  • Portfolio or reel showcasing previous work is preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong understanding of non-linear editing and HD photography technologies.
  • Familiarity with Panasonic P2 Cameras.
  • Exceptional visual storytelling abilities.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms for news engagement.
  • Capability to produce written and visual content for online platforms.
  • Proficient in broadcast writing.
  • Experience with Dalet Galaxy or similar editing software.
  • Educational background in broadcast communications, journalism, or photography is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • High integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
