Key Responsibilities
  • Perform moderate and high complexity testing using technical skills and abilities
  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, and reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of patient results
  • Operate test systems proficiently and troubleshoot issues as needed
  • Ensure quality of laboratory services through job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Follow established policies and procedures for quality control performance and documentation
  • Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance
  • Identify and address problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results
  • Understand and follow safety, infection control, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and in-service education
Requirements
  • Medical Laboratory Technologist License from NYS Department of Education
  • Department of Education (ASCP examination eligible)
  • Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Technology
