PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as an on-site representative for quality assurance and control, ensuring that quality tools are delivered promptly to facilitate ongoing operations.
- Work in an on-call capacity with two scheduled weekends off each month.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with DS-1, customer, industry, and vendor specifications regarding drilling, completions, handling, and specialty tools.
- Oversee inspection, assembly, and testing operations actively.
- Conduct mill surveillance of drill pipe and casing manufacturing processes.
- Perform quality audits, including reviews of the Quality Management System (QMS) and technical process audits of rental and specialty tool providers, inspection facilities, machine shops, and rig sites to assess adherence to relevant standards.
- Maintain daily communication with project managers regarding job progress and any issues that arise.
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide effective solutions for clients.
- Offer mentorship and training to new hires on the job.
- Prepare detailed daily reports and associated field documents that outline findings, actions taken, and relevant technical details.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Skills, and Educational Requirements:
- Proven technical knowledge of the Standard DS-1 and relevant API specifications.
- Aptitude for reading, interpreting, and enforcing inspection, assembly, or testing procedures.
- Ability to effectively read and utilize technical drawings and schematics to meet client requirements.
- Competence in measuring dimensions accurately using calipers, micrometers, and scales.
- Basic mathematical computation and conversion skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in producing detailed technical reports using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), including the ability to scan and upload supporting documents and incorporate images.
- Professional communication skills for daily interactions with coworkers, vendors, and clients.
- Intermediate familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Social and emotional intelligence to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in NDT with Level II certifications in MP, LP, UT, and VT.
- Three or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with the assembly, repair, or qualification of drilling and completions tools.
- Familiarity with DS-1 Volumes 3 and 4, API 5DP, 5CT, and other relevant API specifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit, walk, climb stairs, or stand for extended periods, up to 14 hours with limited breaks.
- Ability to hear audible alarms and verbal safety instructions.
- Capability to detect visual defects as small as 1/64" in inspected tools.
- Ability to carry personal items and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires on-call availability with non-standard working hours, potentially up to 16 hours per day. Technicians will have scheduled weekends off and must have reliable transportation for travel as needed. Multi-day travel may be necessary, and technicians are expected to provide their own laptop and necessary software.
