Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the meticulous preparation and processing of surgical and autopsy tissue samples, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy in histological procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, log, and execute standard histological techniques including embedding, sectioning, staining, and labeling of tissue specimens.
  • Conduct advanced histotechnology practices in immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy.
  • Assist pathologists with gross dissection of specimens, preparing the necessary instruments and chemical reagents.
  • Manage the filing and retrieval of slides, paraffin blocks, and pathology reports, ensuring accurate correlation for pathologist review.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing quality control and preventive maintenance as required.
  • Participate in the training of laboratory staff and contribute to the development of new procedures and research initiatives.
  • Support pathologists in medical photography tasks and perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A high school diploma accompanied by two years of histotechnology training, or
  • An Associate of Science degree with relevant college coursework in science and one year of histotechnology training, or
  • A certificate from an accredited histotechnology program.
  • Registration as HTL (Histotechnologist), HT (Histotechnician), or eligibility for registration through the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) is required.
